- 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 8 flour or corn tortillas for serving
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips, no thicker than 1/4 inch, for even cooking.
Combine the chicken strips, sliced peppers, and onion in a large bowl.
Add olive oil and all the spices, then toss thoroughly until every piece is well coated.
Arrange the mixture in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
Air fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket at the halfway point.
Check that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F before serving.
Warm the tortillas, assemble the fajitas, and serve with your choice of toppings.
- Pat chicken dry before seasoning to help it brown better.
- Always preheat the air fryer for best texture results.
- Cook in batches if your air fryer basket is smaller than 5 quarts.
- A squeeze of fresh lime over the finished fajitas makes a big difference.
