Ingredients
  

  • 3 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional

Instructions
 

  • Mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the bread flour, salt, olive oil, and honey if using. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead for about 5 minutes, just until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and let it rest for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Place the dough on parchment in the slow cooker, cover with paper towels, and cook on high for 2 hours.
  • Lift out the bread and cool it before slicing.

Notes

  • Use bread flour for the best texture, but all-purpose flour works too.
  • Paper towels under the lid help reduce condensation.
  • Broil briefly after cooking for a more golden top.
  • Cool fully before slicing so the crumb sets.
