Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 soft pita breads
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat)
  • 0.5 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
  • 0.5 red onion, sliced thin
  • 0.5 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh lettuce leaves

Instructions
 

  • Prepare tzatziki: Grate and drain cucumber, mix with yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, pepper. Chill.
  • Heat olive oil in skillet. Sauté onion 4 minutes until soft.
  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, drain fat.
  • Stir in garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, pepper. Cook 2-3 minutes.
  • Warm pitta. Layer with lettuce, meat, tomatoes, onion, feta, tzatziki. Serve.

Notes

    >Drain cucumber well for thick tzatziki. >Adjust spices to taste. >Make ahead for best flavor.
